This page is dedicated to our son Fusilier Gordon Gentle who served with pride as a soldier with the Royal Highland Fusiliers 23 December 1984 - 28 June 2004

Gordon was a fun loving boy, so kind, and very warm hearted person, he loved life and was always looking out for his two sisters, they would always say that Gordon was Mums blue eyed boy, I might of gave Gordon a wee bit more as he was my only boy he would always call me his wee mum, that's just because he was 6ft 4in tall and he would always have a good tan, when Gordon was wee you would always get him up trees, he was always climbing, one day we put new clothes on him he was out playing when he came up to the house, he had just a wee pair of boxer shorts on, where are your clothes ? he told me I gave them to the rag and balloon man for a balloon, we could not do nothing but laugh at him but that was Gordon he always made us laugh. The day we lost our boy. Gordon was 18 he came in one day and told me am going to go into the Army as much as I did not want him to go into the Army I stood by him, if that's what you want to do I will support you, Gordon did his passing out parade at the Infantry Training Centre (ITC) Catterick,  He was there for 24 weeks, when I saw him in his uniform I looked at him, that's my boy. Gordon told us that he was to go to Iraq, I can remember we all went to the station with Gordon all of his friends came out to see Gordon off, we got to the station and I told him "I love you" and he says, "love you to Mum", myself and his big sister were in tears when the train left the station when I got home I says to Gordon's Dad the wee man will not be back, don't be silly he told me, Gordon phoned me to let me know that he was there on the 28th of June, I heard the news on TV, it says that a British soldier had been killed you could see the person on the ground, but one of the boys was on his knee's next to him, I looked, that looks like my Gordon, no it cant be, I would of been told by now I went of to my work then 4 hrs later two men from the Army came and told me that Gordon had been killed. He was only there for 3 weeks he was killed by a road side bomb, from that day my heart has been ripped out, our family will never be complete with-out our boy, we got the answer we needed at Gordon's inquest. It was unlawful killing my sonís equipment was in a storeroom 900 meters away from him and had been for 3 months, it was put on the snatch land rovers 2 hrs after he was killed, but we know he is with us day and night. We miss you so, so much your our hero x x x x

Love Mum, Dad, Pamela and Maxine
