Welcome to Palace Barracks Memorial Garden, these memorials stones are dedicated to some of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice while serving in the Armed Forces.

The Garden in Palace Barracks remembers some of those who have lost their lives in Northern Ireland, The Falkland Islands and the United Kingdom,   the Memorial Custodian is also responsible for the Memorial Garden at Thiepval Barracks, Lisburn, Co. Antrim.

10th May 1972: Colour Sergeant W. Boardley Aged 30. Shot dead by an unknown gunman while responding to a hoax bomb alert in Strabane. From Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.


19th December 1978:

Corporal James Burney Aged 26. Shot dead by an unknown gunman in the Newington district, off the Antrim Road. From Whitehaven, Cumbria.


11th March 1980: Private O C Pavey Aged 19. Died as result of an accident in Crossmaglen. From Barnsley, Yorks.


15th March 1980: Private John B Bateman Aged 18. Shot by an unknown gunman while on patrol in Crossmaglen. From Carlisle, Cumbria.


21st March 1980: Private Sean G Walker Aged 18. Died of wounds following a car bomb incident in Crossmaglen. From Morecambe, Lancashire.


27th March 1985: Lance Corporal Anthony Dacre Aged 25. Killed by a bomb planted by persons unknown at Divits Flats while on patrol. From Essex.


24th February 1994 Private David A Hatfield Aged 19. Died as result of a vehicle accident in Londonderry. From Morecambe, Lancashire.


17 January 1995

Private Martin K Thomas Aged 19. Died as a result of a vehicle accident, Belfast. From Workington, Cumbria.


21 February 1995

Private Darren R Millray Aged 20. Died as a result of a road accident. From Kendal, Cumbria.


13 December 2001 WOII MC White

WO2 M.C. (Harry) White was tragically killed; in a training accident at Ballykinlar, Northern Ireland.
