An explosives Officer with the Metropolitan Police who was killed on this day 29th August 1975 by an IRA bomb in Kensington Church Street, West London in which he was posthumously awarded the George Cross for the heroism he displayed.

Captain Goad begin his explosive ordnance disposal military career with the Royal Army Ordnance Corps. He was awarded the British Empire Medal at the rank of Sergeant for gallantry displayed during his EOD duties carried out in Cyprus during 1956-1957.

On completion of his military career, Captain Goad continued to serve his nation by joining the Metropolitan Police as an explosives officer.
